That’s the most dramatic change in traffic across all categories, including politics, entertainment, and sports. Recent volatility in the markets has led to a widely-reported surge in interest among new investors, including college students.

The Public Investing Club series will explore how college students are navigating their investing journeys and what they are looking for in terms of business news, content, and products. In this virtual roundtable. you’ll hear from journalists, content creators, and real investors.

Speakers

Alejandro Gomez

Alejandro Gomez is a rising senior studying industrial engineering at the University of California Berkeley. He is a senior analyst at the largest student-led equity fund on campus where he previously served as the VP of equity. He has worked across different sectors of the financial industry including late-stage venture capital investing and portfolio management for a family office. Alejandro is currently finishing his banking internship with BofA Securities.

Howie Shen

Howie Shen is a graduate of NYU Stern, with concentrations in finance and accounting. At Stern, Howiewas a Portfolio Manager in the Quantitative Finance Society, a student-led investing club.

Ilana Seidl

I’m Ilana! I graduated a few months ago from Tulane, where I studied Computer Science, Psychology, and the art of email writing. I founded roooted, a financial wellness newsletter + community, because coming up with creative ways to breakdown intimidating topics *really* lights my fire.

Zehra Naqvi

Zehra Naqvi’s a senior at Columbia studying Financial Economics and Art History; she is also President of Columbia Women’s Business Society and has worked in PE, VC, and Deloitte’s Investment Team. In her free-time, she manages GLO, a platform using fashion as a form of activism, which she launched in 2014.

Willa Tellekson-Flash

Willa is Public.com’s Community Operations Lead, where she immerses herself in a diverse community of investors and conversations about the companies they all believe in.
